Last night we schlepped across to Shepherd's Bush for what Elly Jackson bashfully termed La Roux's "first proper London show". And a thoroughly enjoyable evening's entertainment it was too. The eleven-track set essentially consists of the duo's entire debut album, minus 'Reflections Are Protection' and 'Growing Pains', but with the welcome addition of 'Finally My Saviour', a bonus cut from the French edition.

Highlights include Elly's gutsy vocals on 'As If By Magic', an emotive version of 'Armour Love' during which her formidable quiff is shrouded in smoke – how very '80s! - and a cracking final four that threatens to turn the Empire into a bit of a rave: 'Colourless Colour', 'In For The Kill', 'Fascination' and, for the encore, No.1 smash 'Bulletproof'.

As for La Mouche herself, she actually comes across very sweet, a touch shy at times, but certainly not lacking in energy as she hops across the stage like a little pop robin. La Roux are still fairly green as a live act – lest we forget, their album only came out in June - so it's perhaps unsurprising that tonight's gig doesn't feature any radical reinterpretations or curveball cover versions. Musically, it's pretty much a straight recreation of the album, but when you've got an album as good as La Roux's to recreate, that's no bad thing at all. Our verdict? A very healthy .
