Listen to Sugababes singing 'Santa Baby'!

Who needs a slice of festive goodness to get through the afternoon? Well, those who keep a close eye on Camp Sugababes will know that the girls have recently recorded a cover of 'Santa Baby' as a Christmas treat for their fans. It's actually the first Babes track to feature Jade Ewen from the word go, so it's historically significant as well as seasonally appealing - in other words, a little bit special.
The result? A soulful and suitably smouldering take on the Eartha Kitt chestnut that could leave you feeling frisky after a few glasses of mulled wine. What's more, it proves the new lineup can harmonise just as sweetly as previous incarnations of the group - now that's we call an early Christmas pressie! The full version is available to download from December 21, but thanks to the peeps at 'Babes HQ, here's a one-minute taster.
What do you think of the Sugababes' take on 'Santa Baby'? Will you be downloading it on December 21? Use the space below to leave your comments.

WOW... very soulful.. loving the fuller rounded and husky vocalsss... this must be one of the greatest line up so far... no more nasal and thin vocals. Mutya will complete this line up.

I was at Top of the Pops recording yesterday and this has been recorded for the Christmas special!! Very cold reception from the audience though.

Love it! I adore their acoustic moments. And come on people, it's not even a proper single, it's just some Christmas fun. Calm down!

sam *angry* lewis; please get a life and get over it, Jade is much better vocally then keisha was, and seems to be a really nice person (they actually want her in the group) I'd like to hear the whole thing, but i'm liking it :)

Love it! I think 2010 is going to be the year of the Sugababes. They seem to have got a new lease of life since Jade's joined. Good luck to them!

I've been a fan of Sugababes from the beginning but I really don't get all the people calling for 1.0 to return or reunite because they didn't have the fans in the first place, hence why they didn't chart great and why they were dropped from their record label! 2.0 is a different matter because they really were massively successful (with the addition of Heidi) but that's not the point. People are jumping on 4.0 without giving them a chance. Personally I think they work together brilliantly and actually sound better than 3.0 so far and since there would be no Sugababes were it not for Jade since they had broken up in LA and bringing Jade in was the only way to keep any version of the group going they should at least get a chance to prove themselves before they're declared 'over' or 'dead'.

Terrible, the new sugababes do not work. Jade Ewen, what a disgrace, abandoning her solo career at the first possible chance. The song will not crack the top 40 because its bad! 4.0 is the downfall of the Sugababes, Bring back either 1.0 or 2.0!!!!!!!!

I don't really don't like Amelle's vocals on this but it really suits Heidi's quite husky voice. And of course Jade is amazing. Her voice can suit anything to be honest.

For the first time I'm beginning to understand what this line up's about. Perhaps getting rid of Keisha was worth it? Especially when the result is this amazing. Call me a convert!

Digital Spy, you’re too good to us! It’s great to hear the vocal arrangements and harmonies that this line up could have on the new tracks they’ve recorded for the postponed ‘Sweet 7’. I must admit I feel sorry for Ewen, she’s thus far only rerecorded vocals for harmonies that might not suit her voice and show her amazing potential contribution to this band off fully. It’s also kinda unfortunate this track is cover version, as again people will be making comparisons (re Kylie comment), but it certainly made me sit up in my seat. Roll on Sugababes in 2010, this could all indeed a little bit special!
