What do we think of Courtney's new Hole?

Last month on Jonathan Ross, Twitter addict Courtney Love and her new Hole bandmates (Micko 'Larrikin Love' Larkin, Shawn Dailey and Stu Fisher) blew away the cobwebs with what we guessed was the big hooky comeback single, 'Samantha'.

Well, guess what, Ms Love wrong-footed us! The official trailer from the long-awaited Nobody's Daughter is actually Billy Corgan/Linda Perry (apparently Love/Larkin - Ed) co-write 'Skinny Little Bitch', a much heavier affair than the relatively radio-friendly Sam. 'SLB' kicks off like a filthier version of Kings Of Leon's 'Molly's Chambers' before the influence of friend and sometime collaborator Billy Corgan becomes very clear indeed - both the riffy verses and the way Love wraps her larynx around the lyrics sound plenty like something off the Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie....

Is it really Hole? Well, just like Billy and the last "Pumpkins" outing, the sound is close enough to classic to explain why she's resurrected the bandname. With its overly-fiddly drums, grungey throwback sensibilities and almost-parodic lyrics ("Born of bile creation / Born of sour milk / And cocaine filth"), this ain't gonna change the world, but it's loud, daft, and undoubtedly very good fun indeed.

What do you think of 'Skinny Little Bitch'? Is it a return to form for Courtney Love? Use the space below to have your say.
