Good news for Boyzone, Cheryl Cole, Justin Bieber

Published Tuesday, Mar 23 2010, 12:57 GMT | By Nick Levine | 19 comments
This week's new release slate mightn't be the most exciting in chart history, but there's actually quite a bit going on in today's midweeks, so let's get on with it right away, shall we?

  • GaGa and Honey B's 'Telephone' is on course for a second week at No.1, with its nearest competition coming from Tinie Tempah's 'Pass Out' and Justin Bieber's 'Baby'.

  • Cheryl Cole's 'Parachute' has glided into the top five, while Inna's 'Hot' is a kitten's whisker outside.

  • Following Boyzone's TV tribute to Stephen Gately on Sunday night, 'Gave It All Away' has bounced back into the top ten.

  • Florence and the Machine's 'Dog Days Are Over' has returned to the top 40, while Robbie Williams's 'Morning Sun' has entered for the first time.

  • And there's more good news for Boyzone! Their Brother album's on course to dethrone GaGa's The Fame Monster from the top of the albums chart.

  • New entries? Well, Laura Marling's in the top three, Justin Bieber and Goldfrapp are in the top five, and Gabriella Cilmi's a mere smidgeon outside the top 15.

  • The Guinness, it's fair to say, is on Ronan and co. tonight.

please need an update on the 'Babes, Sweet 7 should be in the top 5! Boyzone are only at the top due to their tv tribute not for the music on the album which i have heard and it is very reduntant mediocre pop tosh, haha also update on gorillaz Plastic Beach, it needs to get to the top spot. glad Telephone is holding its own too!

I'm glad for Boyzone, but why isn't the BEPs in the top ten? Inna needs that #1!

Laura Marling is just brilliant, I hope the best for her new album, it deserves to be number 1.

How Come GaGa dethroned Tinie in the official charts and the real iTunes chart althoghly didn't or either the Big Top 40 did not get GaGa to number one. So that means physical and download sales count on Lady GaGa. thats why BBC Radio 1 took over the instant text messages for people requesting the number one.

Tom, Yes the Boyzone boys have seemed to have won the hearts of the nation in they way they have dealt with loosing their friend, but make no mistake it is a GOOD album so more than worthy of its no.1 position.

Really pleased for Cheryl actually, it's proved to be an increasingly better song which each listen. I'd like to be updated on where Young Money, Pixie Lott, Mumford & Sons, David Guetta and Florence are.

No offence but Boyzone are only having success for one reason and its not due to the songs or talent.
    Nick B, Bournemouth, on March 23rd, 2010
Apparently Sugababes are out of the Top 30...

I hope Laura Marling, Goldfrapp, and Gabriella Cilmi can maintain their positions on the album chart. New albums this year seem to be doing well in the first midweeks after their release then fall sharply before the end of the week. I thought Gabriella would struggle to get in the top 20 so she's doing well for now. Would of loved her to be doing much better but I wasn't too hopeful.

Yes Go GaGa, best song in the top 10 at the moment. Dog Days Are Over should be higher than in the top 40, fingers crossed for a top twenty placing at least. Funny hows Robbie can't get a good chart placing without performing on a major tv program, bodies (x factor - #2) you know me (peaked at #15 then dived to #6 because he went on x factor again) and this one needed a major performane like comic to get him in the top 40. Cilmi should be higher on album. Ps tinie tempah song is shit so glad GaGa knocked him off. Tommorrow, has BEP - ROCK THAT BODY enetred the top 10 and has PIXIE LOTT - GRAVITY entered the top 20 yet. And did anyone else know Usher had a new song out, i didn't.
