The Wanted: Live in London

The Wanted 'The Wanted'
Where have The Wanted been?
Armed with three top five hits, Max, Jay, Siva, Tom and Nathan have been headlining venues across the UK with their self-titled debut LP for their first official tour. Given their rise to fame in less than a year and having already amassed a, ahem, dedicated fanbase - largely of the female variety, we hasten to add - we popped down to one of their London shows to see what all the fuss was about.

What did they sing?
Posing as five guys Wanted for a diamond robbery, the band aptly kicked off proceedings with album track 'Behind Bars', followed by a floor-shaking performance of 'Lose My Mind'. Aside from the singles, the band proved they can also get their swag on by singing an electro-pumped medley of Taio Cruz hits ('Dynamite'/ 'Higher'/ 'Dirty Picture'/ 'Made'/ 'Break Your Heart'). Fans were also treated to a preview of new track 'Lightning' - an electronic pop-rock anthem which looks likely to be their next single.

What did they wear?
Arriving on stage in jail, the boys were adorned in greasy wife beater vests with gold detail in what must be the classiest prison uniforms we've ever seen - think Prison Break meets Bad Girls. Following their breakout they assume disguises which include Wild West-inspired jeans/shirt combos to Vegas-chique tuxedos. Favourite outfit of the night? Siva scrubbed up very well in a long jacketed, fitted tux - but we imagine it would be hard to find an outfit he wouldn't look good in.

The Wanted
And the moves?
The lads have already admitted that they're no dancers, but kept the energy high throughout despite a lack of complex choreography. Each proved that they ooze natural rhythm during the Taio medley where we were treated to a cane-pointing, shoulder-popping, chest-pulsing Cabaret-inspired routine.

In Summary...
For a band largely unknown 12 months ago, 'The Wanted' tour is an almighty achievement that highlights how far they've come and in such little time. Although the storyline didn't always fit with the songs, the Sky News inserts were a clever and fun way to fill those awkward costume changes. Vocally, they were consistently good, with even background singers Siva and Jay showcasing their impressive pipes on a stadium-sized rendition of the Goo Goo Dolls' 'Iris'. Speaking of which, it now comes as little surprise that there are whispers of an arena tour later this year - they've certainly got the chops for it.
