They have, of course, been put out in the hope of swindling a few bob out of panicked sons and daughters for Mother's Day.
We at Digital Spy have decided to take a closer look at what this year's selection of records has to offer.

Tesco Mary returns with her second covers album, albeit on a new record label. It was released in the UK last week with no promotion whatsoever and still managed sneak inside the top 40.
No. of covers: 12 out of 12.
The best bit: Credit to Mary, this is not the obvious, cheesy covers album you'd expect. Our favourite is her take on Martina McBride's 'Valentine'.
The worst bit: We would have preferred an obvious, cheesy covers album. More K-Ci & JoJo and less Kris Kristofferson.
Mother's Day approval rating: For the inevitable awkward look on her face alone, this deserves a 7/10. It's what Mother's Day is all about.

Deciding to rush out Marcus Collins's album on Mother's Day week can't be a mere coincidence. The X Factor runner-up's debut includes a studio version of his best moment on the show ('Higher & Higher'), as well as eight original recordings.
No. of covers: three out of 11.
The best bit: Our favourite is the Gary Barlow-penned 'Feel Like I Feel', which kicks off with a 'Relight My Fire'-inspired intro.
The worst bit: The lead single/White Stripes cover of 'Seven Nation Army'.
Mother's Day approval rating: If you're going to buy her CD, this is your safest bet of the lot. 8/10.

Gareth Malone and his Military Wives choir return after nabbing last year's Christmas number one, this time with an entire albums worth of material.
No. of covers: 10 out of 11.
The best bit: Nobody could tire of Bob Dylan's 'Make You Feel My Love', could they?
The worst bit: A cover of U2's 'With Or Without You'.
Mother's Day approval rating: A last-resort purchase. At least it's for charity, right? 4/10.

The double CD package includes highlights from Bolton's career as well as the brand new duets album, featuring the likes of Rascal Flatts, Seal and Delta Goodrem.
No. of covers: eight out of 12.
The best bit: His 'When A Man Loves a Woman / It's a Man's Man's Man's World' mashup with Seal is almost Glee-worthy.
The worst bit: A rendition of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' with MB's Children's Choir.
Mother's Day approval rating: One for the older mother. 5/10.

The Australian actor and occasional singer returns with his fifth studio album; a collection of big band covers and original songs about his specialist subject: love.
No. of covers: five out of 11.
The best bit: 'Zing! Went the Strings Of My Heart' for the title alone.
The worst bit: There's no re-working of 1988 chart-topper 'Too Many Broken Hearts' and/or a Kylie duet.
Mother's Day approval rating: If you're looking to avoid an argument, we'd suggest steering clear of this one. 2/10.

A compilation of all your mum's, erm, favourites, including Bruno Mars, Paolo Nutini, James Morrison and, because they can, The Script.
The best bit: Rebecca Ferguson's 'Nothing's Real But Love'
The worst bit: Matt Cardle: 'Run For Your Life'
Mother's Day approval rating: A lazy choice. Have you not been paying attention to anything she's been talking about for the last year? 1/10.
