For those already familiar with studio boff Russell 'Rustie' Whyte, you'd be forgiven for thinking that he is one of those too-cool-for-school producers whose presence alone would be an intimidating prospect.
But on the contrary. While his latest album Glass Swords is a collection of sonic, neon-splattered electro credited with leading a "maximalist" movement, he insists that he is in fact a quiet chap highly skilled at unravelling the Legend of Zelda in his Glasgow home.
The LP recently won the 'Guardian First Album' prize, and after giving it several spins, it's no surprise that it saw off competition from the likes of Anna Calvi, The Vaccines, Katy B and SBTRKT.
Rustie's new single 'Surph' - out April 9 - is currently doing the rounds on Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and given that he's already selling out venues across the world, we're sure he'll have little trouble making it a hit.
