Playlist: 10 tracks you need to hear

By and Lewis Corner
Listen to our ten favourite new songs below, including Leona Lewis, Major Lazer, Patrick Wolf, Nelly Furtado and more.

Leona Lewis ft. Childish Gambino: 'Trouble' (out October 7)
The X Factor's poster diva is back doing what she does best. Big beats, big strings and even bigger vocals make 'Trouble' a welcome return for Leona Lewis - and the Childish Gambino feature is rather nice too. LC

Major Lazer ft. Amber: 'Get Free' (out now)
Knob-twiddling collective Major Lazer dropped the video for their latest track 'Get Free' in time for this year's Notting Hill Carnival. Fortunately, its bouncy, reggae-flecked beats also work perfectly for a post-party hangover. Watch the official clip below: RC

Patick Wolf: 'Overture' (out October 15)
Following the success of last year's Lupercalia, Patrick Wolf has wasted no time in getting back into the studio to record his sixth studio album Sundark and Riverlight. 'Overture' serves as a taster of the LP, which continues to push forward his sophisticated blend of folk, classical and pop. RC

Avicii ft Lenny Kravitz: 'Superlove' (release date tbc)
Lenny Kravitz has gone all dance and teamed up with DJ wunderkid Avicii for 'Superlove'. The rock star's smooth tones fit nicely on the producer's euphoric synths and makes for a nice anthem to round off the summer with. LC

Dappy: 'Good Intentions' (out September 23)
The controversial rapper returns with another heart-felt ditty of being misunderstood and righting wrongs. He may let his mouth run off sometimes, but his ear is fine-tuned when it comes to a stellar pop anthem. LC

Nelly Furtado: 'Parking Lot' (out September 18)
As if two impressive trailer singles wasn't enough, Nelly Furtado has released a third cut online from her forthcoming album Spirit Indestructible. 'Parking Lot' is underlined by a carnival-inspired riff and plenty of na na na's that leaves us suitably salivating for the LP come September 18. RC

Shontelle: 'Custom Made' (release date tbc)
Despite a handful of impressive hits, Shontelle has never quite managed to step out of fellow Barbadian singer Rihanna's shadow. While we're not entirely convinced 'Custom Made' is the song to do it, the song is another infectious R&B-lite anthem with a chorus catchier than a baseball mitt. RC

DJ Fresh: 'The Feeling' (out September 23)
Dan Stein continues his run of hi-NRG cuts with 'The Feeling', which features the vocal talents of RaVaughn. Pulsing beats, soaring synths and a earworm melody results in yet another club hit and makes DJ Fresh's upcoming album even more enticing. LC

B.o.B ft. Nicki Minaj: 'Out Of My Mind'
Who knew B.o.B and Nicki Minaj would drive each other crazy in the recording studio? The result may be completely bonkers, but it's also worryingly addictive. LC

Lilygreen & Maguire: 'Given Up, Giving Up' (out October 8)
Say hello to Jon Lilygreen and Jon Maguire, who have been steadily making a name for themselves across the UK supporting the likes of Olly Murs and Wheatus. Their first major release is 'Given Up, Giving Up', whose lilting melody and uplifting lyrics are a sure cure for the end-of-summer blues. RC
