Playlist: 10 tracks you need to hear

By and Lewis Corner
Listen to our ten favourite new songs below, including Solange, Bruno Mars, Kodaline and Cher.

Solange: 'Lovers in the Parking Lot' (out November 27)
We were already intrigued by Solange's upcoming EP from its lead single 'Losing You', but after hearing this latest track from the seven-track collection - a catchy-yet-classic-sounding R&B number - our excitement levels have reached new heights. RC

Bruno Mars: 'Moonshine' (release date tbc)
So far we've been pleasantly surprised by Bruno Mars's shift in musical direction with the Police-inspired 'Locked Out of Heaven'. Follow-up track 'Moonshine' slows things down considerably but has a similar '80s vintage feel. RC

M.O: 'Wait Your Turn' (out now)
If you like your girlbands with a bit more bite, then turn your attention to M.O. The trio's debut single 'Wait Your Turn' fuses hip-shaking clap-beats with a whole lotta sassy attitude. LC

Kodaline: 'The Answer' (out March 2013)
After the success of 'All I Want', Kodaline return with the equally-as-affecting 'The Answer', which trails their new EP 'The High Hopes' in March next year. What's more, they've continued their penchant for truly captivating music videos. RC

Paloma Faith: 'Just Be' (Shy FX & B.Traits Mix) (released N/A)
'Just Be' is probably one of my favourite tracks from Paloma's current album Fall To Grace, so when we discovered that a remix had been made, we were dubious. That said, Shy FX and B.Traits have added the right balance of breakbeats and ravey synths to make this a listen-worthy re-swizzle, that captures music's current love affair with '90s vibez. LC

Cher: 'Woman's World' (release date tbc)
We've only been waiting a decade Cher, don't you worry. The legendary singer officially returned to music last week, and brought with her a club-storming new single. Massive beats and airy synth lines just barely keep up with her booming vocals. LC

Laura Mvula: 'She' (out now)
The rising star has been wowing crowds across the country over the last few months with a string of intimate shows. Her debut EP 'She' is released this week, and its lead track is a stunning soul ballad backed by a barely-there piano and cooing choir. RC

Girls Aloud: 'On The Metro' (out now)
The group officially celebrate their tenth anniversary this Friday and judging by this brand new cut from their best-of album Ten, they haven't lost their knack for a quirky and unashamedly addictive pop song. RC

Queen Of Hearts: 'Warrior' (out December 2)
Big tribal drums and airy synths swirl around Queen of Hearts' forlorn vocal on her latest track, which was produced by Diamond Cut. It caps off a successful year for the singer-songwriter, which saw her perform numerous shows both sides of the Atlantic. LC

Swiss Lips: 'DANZ' (out now)
After supporting the likes of Ladyhawke and Bastille, Swiss Lips release 'DANZ' as their new single. The Manchester band successfully straddle guitar riffs with electro boombast - and if anyone caught them in London earlier this month, you'll recognise the music video's main star. LC
