Playlist: 10 tracks you need to hear

By and Lewis Corner
Listen to our ten favourite new songs below, including Tom Odell, Cee Lo Green, Rhye, Drake and Bridgit Mendler.

Tom Odell: 'Hold Me' (out March 31)
Winning a Brit Award before releasing your official first single is sure to add extra pressure. Luckily for Tom Odell, his debut release is a buoyant piano number that sounds like early Keane but with a weightier punch. LC

Cee Lo Green: 'Only You' (release date tbc)
Taking a well-earned break from his role on The Voice in the US, Cee Lo Green will be returning to his day job for the first part of this year, starting with his new single. Continuing from where The Lady Killer left off, the track is a nod-along soul number with Green's instantly recognisable tones. LC

Rhye: 'Open' (out now)
A year after debuting the track, Rhye have released an accompanying music video for 'Open', which trails their debut album Woman on March 4. Flanked by a crisp string section and bobbing synths, the result is intimate pop at its very best. RC

Drake: 'Started from the Bottom' (release date tbc)
The Canadian rapper is currently preparing the release of his third studio set and has a lot to live up to following 2011's Take Care. New cut 'Started from the Bottom' proves Drake still has an ear for an addictive beat, but let's hope there are better lyrics elsewhere on the album. LC

Birds of Tokyo: 'Lanterns' (release date tbc)
After storming the charts in hometown Australia last month following seven years of attempts, we wouldn't be surprised if the success of Birds of Tokyo's stadium-friendly 'Lanterns' spreads to international waters soon. RC

Indiana: 'Bound' (release date tbc)
The Nottingham singer-songwriter continues to build on the hype of her debut single 'Blind As I Am' with 'Bound'; a track that blends moody R&B beats with fuzzy electronics and steadily builds into something truly captivating. RC

Bridgit Mendler: 'Ready or Not' (out March 4)
Yes, we know that sampling The Delfonics' 'Ready or Not Here I Come' and transforming it into a sugary pop tune that includes the lyric "You'll be my William, I'll be your Kate" isn't exactly the coolest or most original idea, but we defy anyone not to at least tap their foot along to this one. RC

Bondax: 'Gold' (out February 11)
With a US tour and a sackload of critical acclaim under their belts, expect the squelchy synths of 'Gold' - helmed by Lancaster dance duo George Townsend and Adam Kaye - to be blaring from the UK's trendier dancefloors this month. RC

Rizzle Kicks: 'Earl Grey' (available as free download now)
The duo are keeping fans happy while they take on the US by uploading some free music. The latest is a track titled 'Earl Grey', which centres around a smooth hook about the "simple pleasure" of the beverage. However, the verses deal with the more interesting topic of the change in their lives since rising to fame. LC

Moya: 'A Little More Love' (out March 25)
Singer-songwriter Moya has been gaining momentum over recent months, with fans including Perez Hilton and Fearne Cotton. 'A Little More Love' is the latest single to be lifted from her debut album Lost and Found, and showcases her ability to command a catchy mid-tempo ballad. LC
