Playlist: 10 tracks you need to hear

By and Lewis Corner
Listen to ten of our favourite new songs below, including tracks by Eliza Doolittle, J Cole, Selena Gomez and Ciara.

Eliza Doolittle: 'Big When I Was Little' (out July 28)
The singer-songwriter returns with the soul-flecked tones that made her a chart success first time out. Swaying beats, funky brass and plenty of 'oohs' make it a summer-friendly ditty.

J Cole ft. TLC: 'Crooked Smile'
The second track from the rapper's second studio album Born Sinner finds him airing his insecurities. "I keep my twisted grill just to show the kids I'm real," he says of his not-so-Colgate smile, while the inimitable tones of TLC's T-Boz and Chilli can be heard on the ear-snagging chorus. It's a bizarre combination, but it works.

Megan & Liz: 'Release You' (UK release date tbc)
Michigan-born sisters Megan & Liz initially found fame in 2007 after releasing a series of popular covers on YouTube. Since then, they've put out a couple of EPs of original material and now have their sights set firmly on the charts with 'Release You'; a sugary electro-pop stomper that's just the right side of sickly-sweet.

Ed Drewett: 'Undefeated' (out July 15)
After writing hits for Olly Murs and The Wanted, the Essex singer-songwriter will release 'Undefeated' as the second cut from his upcoming debut album. Familiar synth riffs, twiddling guitars and club-ready beats make it yet another catchy pop tune penned by the musician.

Selena Gomez: 'Slow Down' (release date na)
"Now that I have captured your attention, I wanna steal you for a rhythm intervention," Selena declares on her latest track. While it's true that her latest single 'Come & Get It' forced us to sit up and take notice of the star, truth be told, we prefer this wobbly club thumper tenfold.

Ciara: 'Super Turnt Up' (out July 8)
The latest track to debut from Ciara's upcoming self-titled album is 'Super Turnt Up'; a smooth R&B number complete with seductively bouncy beats and a typically grindable chorus.

Casablanca: 'Hurricane Season' (release date tbc)
Rising London quartet Jacob, Callum, Tom H and Tom M have already acquired a die-hard fanbase with their addictive indie-pop sound that sounds like a mash-up of Foals, Theme Park and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Miley Cyrus: 'We Can't Stop' (out August 18)
Despite having yet to turn 21 years old, Miley Cyrus's return to music centres around carefree party vibes and pointing your red cups in the air.

Autoheart: 'Agoraphobia' (out July 15)
The band have worked with Danton Supple (Coldplay, Morrissey) on their debut collection Punch - and as new AA-side single 'Agoraphobia' suggests, it's expected to be fuelled by piano and guitar-led balladry of poignant heartache.

Only Real: 'Take It From Me' (free download)
Niall Galvin pops the guitar away for this latest cut, which hears him freestyle over the '90s hip-hop beats and hazy brass instrumental that is Lord Finesse: 'Money Talks'.
