Annie Lennox's greatest moments

Published Wednesday, Jan 16 2008, 16:28 GMT | By Nick Levine | 1 comment
Has Annie Lennox been dropped? Or did her record contract expire? Do the two just mean the same thing? This hopefully clears the whole thing up, but The Sound's had enough of all that boring industry malarkey. Sorry to sound like a Radio 1 DJ, but it's time to get back to what really matters: the music.

Without further ado, here are our five favourite Annie Lennox moments of all time:

5. 'Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves', on which Annie trades warbles with the greatest soul singer of all time and doesn't make a complete tit of herself.

4. Winning an Oscar for 'Into The West', the theme song from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Well, Madonna hasn't got her bony little mitts on one yet, has she?

3. Her Live 8 performance, which satisfied the three Ts of the global charity gig. One, Tunes (she performed 'Sweet Dreams', 'Why' and 'Little Bird'); two, Tremendous vocals; and three, plenty of Tear-jerking ('Why' + video montage of famine, war, poverty etc. = sob-o-rama) .

2. 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)', which, despite being older than Amy Winehouse, still sounds modern, thrilling and ever so slightly unsettling.

1. Yes, that is him from House, and, yes, this is pretty incredible:
