Nobody threw water over a cabinet minister, nobody invaded the stage when the King of Pop was performing and nobody tried to start a fight with Liam Gallagher. The lack of incident notwithstanding, this year's Brits weren't a complete washout. Here's our recap of the evening's most noteworthy events.

The Good
  • Kylie and the Power Rangers' dazzling performance of 'Wow'

  • The Mark Ronson medley, which served as a handy précis of his Version album

  • Take That being recognised for their sterling live performances over the last year

  • Adele sloping off stage, Brit in hand, as if she was off to the pub

  • The Bad
  • Mika and Beth Ditto's clumsy, awkward mash-up of 'Love Today' and 'Standing In The Way of Control'

  • Poor old Leona Lewis, who became this year's Craig David after failing to win any of the four awards for which she was nominated

  • Dave Grohl's patronising, desperately unfunny acceptance speech

  • Fearne Cotton's "backstage" "interview" "technique"

  • The Bizarre
  • That Rihanna/Klaxons collaboration, which worked better on paper than it did onstage

  • Sharon Osbourne: was she nervous, half-cut or a bit of both?

  • Amy Winehouse's determination to flash her unmentionables during 'Love Is A Losing Game'

  • The Knights of the Realm contingent: lovely as it was to see them, who invited Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber?
