Alphabeat: The fantastic six

Published Friday, May 2 2008, 12:18 BST | By Nick Levine | 4 comments
Last night we saw Alphabeat play at a nice, intimate venue in London. Here's what we thought of their performance:

Fantastic Six was a barn-storming opener.
Anders, the group's frontman, was energetic right from the start.
Not that we're suggesting he was off his face, mind.
The new single, '10,000 Nights', became a bit of a singalong.
As did 'Fascination', which was sparkier than an electricians' convention.
Stine, the group's "frontwoman", looked resplendent in green.
Though even she couldn't distract us during the set's one clunker.
It was called 'Nothing But My Baby', and it had a bit of a dancehall sound.
Cleverly, they played a brilliant song called 'Boyfriend' afterwards, causing everyone to forget about it.

In fact, we reckon the Alphabeat live experience is at least 30 times more convincing than their new video:

I saw them at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells last night, they were so good! Boyfriend, 10,000 Nights and obviously Fascination were the best!

I do love this band... I continually play their music and my friends cannot seem to understand good quality dance, pop! Can't wait for their album!

I was at the gig last night and have to echo the compliments about Stine's dress. She looked amazing! And she has the moves! anders was certainly energetic, I suspect he sustained damage to his ribcage, given the verocity of his tambourine-shaking!
