Girls Aloud: The good, the bad and the bawdy

By
On Saturday night we caught Girls Aloud's 'Tangled Up' tour at the 02 Arena in London. Here are our thoughts on the evening's entertainment:

The Good
  • Barn-storming renditions of 'Wake Me Up', 'Something Kinda Ooooh', 'Call The Shots' and 'Love Machine'.

  • An energetic performance of 'Black Jacks', which benefited from some snappy monochrome stage design.

  • The tabloid-friendly decision to cover Kelis' 'Trick Me'. "You tricked me once," a defiant Cheryl Cole sang, "I won't let you trick me twice."

  • The Bad
  • The girls' stage banter, which had as much sparkle as a day-old glass of champagne. Did Cheryl actually say: "Happy birthday to everyone whose birthday it is tonight!"?

  • One too many bum notes. Something tells us Sarah Harding hasn't been living like a nun this tour.

  • A messy rendition of 'Walk This Way', which was little more than hen night karaoke.

  • The Bawdy
  • The moment during 'Sound Of The Underground' where boys in bondage gear appeared to put their heads into the girls' laps. Look away now, kids!

  • Sarah's cries of "Gonna need more wood!" during 'Close To Love'. Priceless.

  • A strutting, seductive performance of 'Fling'. As its title suggests, this song isn't about saving yourself until marriage.
