Lindsay Lohan gets 'Bossy'

Published Thursday, May 29 2008, 16:29 BST | By Nick Levine | 8 comments
Earlier in the week Ne-Yo said this about a young pop starlet: "We gave her a quality record and she did a ridiculously fabulous job." Was he talking about Rihanna? Leona? A resurgent Britney? Nah, he was actually spooning the praise on Lindsay Lohan - singer, actress and the best thing to happen to American gossip columnists ever.

Up until now L.Lo's pop career has been eminently forgettable: imagine a pair of Ashlee Simpson albums, but without the tunes or glimpses of personality. Finally realising that a change of sound was in order, she's hooked up with Ne-Yo and Stargate, the hitmaking team behind Beyoncé's 'Irreplaceable' and Rihanna's 'Take A Bow'.

The result, 'Bossy', has just been posted on her MySpace page. It's electro-dance-pop with attitude. "I'm just a little bossy," she urges. "I like it how I like it when I like it." That we don't doubt, but we wouldn't like to speculate as to what exactly "it" might be. Ahem.

'Bossy' isn't pop gold - the chorus lacks a bit of oomph and Lohan's vocals still aren't convincing - but it's the first Lohan tune we'd be prepared to listen to more than once. That, we suppose, is enough to constitute a small step forward.

You can listen to 'Bossy' by clicking here, but expect to be interrupted by extremely irritating plugs for her new album.

What do you think of 'Bossy? Does Lindsay Lohan make a convincing singer? Use the space below to share your thoughts.

i like the song.I expect dance record from Lindsay, the one like Hilary Duff did. Bossy is a cool tune.

That song is absolutely the worst song I've heard...ever and whoever likes that is an idiot.

Her vocal tone is more suited to guitar-pop, like her last 2 albums, but this is pretty good and is catchy, should do well for her (with the help of a sexy video)

i like this song, the vocals are good and the music is graet. A great effort of a good song :D

I think it's a cool song but no greatest, I liked more her second album than the first one, was more deep and mature. Now with this record I hope will be great, this tune it's just ok I've been waiting something more, but it's fine, we'll see how does it on charts.

she really needs to change her vocals by getting more vocal lessons as their not convincing.
