106-year-old Sister Cecilia Gaudette has said that she will vote for Barack Obama next month.
Gaudette, who lives in a convent in Rome, may be the oldest voter in the US presidential election on November 4, reports the BBC.
The nun last voted for President Eisenhower in the 1952 election. However, she claimed that she has been impressed by Obama's personal conduct during his recent campaign.
"I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she commented: "I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern."
When asked what she would like Obama to achieve as US leader, she replied: "Peace abroad. I don't worry about the Iraq war because I can't do anything about it. Lord knows how it will end.
"It is very complicated. Those Eastern people are not like we are."
