Lightning strike kills 52 cows

A lightning strike killed 52 cows that were huddling against a wire fence as protection from the storm.

Police in Uruguay released a picture of the black and brown cows found lying in a row on a ranch in the northern state of San Jose.

According to El Pais newspaper, vets at the scene confirmed the deaths were caused by a lightning strike.

Meteorologist Fernando Torena described the incident as "very bad luck".
