An 11-year-old boy has been accused of trying to bribe his mother after hitting her in the head with a saw.
The child, from Fort Pierce in Florida, reportedly became involved in an argument with his mother after he refused to take his medication. It is claimed that he then cycled to a nearby home and started hitting a tree with a saw before attacking his mother when she caught up with him, causing a "minor laceration".
"When he saw the blood coming from her head he threw down the saw and started to plead with the victim to not call the police," a report released by the local sheriff's office states.
The document adds that the boy then offered to give $5 to his mother if she agreed to keep quiet about the incident.
The child, who insists the attack was accidental, is now facing an aggravated battery charge.
