Footballer too good for school team

15-year-old footballer Reuben Noble-Lazarus has been told that he is too good to play for his school team.

The teenager, who made his debut for Barnsley FC earlier this week, has been banned by his headteacher.

Noble-Lazarus became the youngest player ever to play League Football after starring against Ipswich on Tuesday.

Barnsley was happy for him to continue playing for Newsome High School, but staff have now dropped him from the team.

Teacher Paul Gittins told Metro: "Last Thursday, Reuben played for the school in front of 20 people and a dog.

"Then, last night, he was playing in front of 19,000 people at Portman Road. Reuben's moved on to the next level now and won't be playing for the school again."
