A teacher is preparing to embark on a 112-mile sea crossing in a man-size paper boat, reports say.
Zhu Yalin, who teaches chemistry in China, said the vessel will be 2in thick and 6ft long and has been crafted to carry the weight of two people.
"Not only is the whole boat made of paper, but the glue is an organic material - cooked flour soup," he told the Straits Guidance Daily.
Yalin will be escorted by a lifeboat on his crossing of the Taiwan Straits, to take place on October 31.
Should his vessel make it to the other side, he plans to form an armada of 60 paper boats to cross the stretch to mark New Year.
