A banker who won $1 million (£600,000) a year for the rest of his life on a lottery scratchcard was already a millionaire, reports The Telegraph.
Keenan Altunis, 33, described buying the US lottery game as the "best return on any investment" he has ever made.
The banking executive works in London but was brought up in America, where his mother purchased the scratchcard for him.
Altunis, who lives in Clerkenwell, said: "Is it going to materially change my life? No, I've been a very blessed and fortunate person."
However, he added that his good fortune was "bittersweet" because it came at a difficult time for his colleagues in the banking industry.
"Friends are losing their jobs. This has been one of the toughest times in the world, so the win is bittersweet," he said.
