A mink has chewed through a £100,000 powerboat in Brighton Marina.

Owner Elliott Maurice noticed a hole in the boat's cabin and saw the animal chewing through some rope, reports The Telegraph.

"I went on the boat and found quite a strange smell and thought it was a bit odd," he said. "When I opened the cabin I saw droppings about the size of rat droppings. Then I saw a hole in the bulkhead about the size of a fist and I knew there was no way a rat could have done that.

"I went up to the harbour office and was told there is a mink on the loose - and then I saw the little sod."

Maurice, 36, claimed that the mink also attacked his decking and needs to be stopped before it sinks any boats in the dock.

He added: "I'm not over keen on it, to be honest. It is quite cute looking but not something you want to make friends with. I think they can be quite vicious.

"This little blighter has chewed its way through some of my decking and I'm furious. Someone needs to do something about it quick or we'll end up with boats at the bottom of the sea."
