Wildlife including geese, frogs and toads have been interrupting Manchester United's training sessions.

The football club's base in Carrington, Cheshire is located in the countryside and the team have been forced to halt practice on several occasions due to passing animals.

"The geese have been returning for the past couple of years and can dive better than Cristiano Ronaldo," a source told The Sun.

"Carrington was chosen by [manager] Alex Ferguson for its privacy and security, but one of the drawbacks of being out in the sticks is the wildlife."

Facilities boss Clive Snell commented: "There is a nature reserve within the boundaries and we've got two lagoons on site as part of our water treatment system.

"The reed beds attract the geese, who have been flying in and laying their eggs."
