Woman finds dead frog in spinach

An Austrian woman has discovered a dead frog in the spinach she was preparing for her family's evening meal.

According to newspaper the Daily Oesterreich, the woman thought the spinach was "lumpy", but only realised it contained a dead amphibian when she served it on a plate for her daughter.

She said: "My stomach turned. It was almost whole, except for a missing leg which I probably knocked off when I stirred the spinach."

The housewife was handed a packet of coffee as compensation after complaining to the supermarket where she bought the spinach.
