Punk singer 'hiccups for two years'

A British man has claimed that he has been suffering from the hiccups for two years.

Christopher Sands from Lincoln, who fronts the punk band Ebullient, said that his condition has left him unable to sleep or hold down food.

The 25-year-old will undergo stomach surgery in an attempt to remedy the problem, for which he receives incapacity benefits.

"Just recently I have been bringing every meal I eat back up again, I am starting to feel quite weak and my trousers all need belts now, so I made a visit to the doctor's, explained everything to her," he wrote on his MySpace page.

Sands has tried medicinal treatments, alternative therapies and taken advice from old-wives' tales to cure his hiccups, though none have proved successful.

"I still have them and they aren't getting any better," he added.
