Two people have been arrested for posting photographs of themselves eating a rare iguana on Facebook .

Vanessa Starr Palm, 23, and Alexander Daniel Rust, 24, were holidaying in the Bahamas when they apparently caught the endangered animal, killed it and cooked it.

The pair were arrested on the Fisheries Regulations and the Wild Animal Protection Act on Monday after being tracked down by Bahamian authorities.

Police said that photographs on the social networking site showed "parts of an iguana on a grill, two men eating the iguana pieces, and a man and a woman cleaning what appears to be undersized conch".
