Somerset school bans snogging

A school in Somerset has banned its teenage students from kissing each other.

Headmaster Chris Richardson told the 1,200 pupils at Kings of Wessex in Cheddar that they will be given detention if caught in the act, The Sun reports.

One parent said: "Snogging is part of teenage life. Most schools probably frown on pupils kissing, but actually banning it under threat of punishment is going a step too far."

Previously, parents of children at the school reportedly took issue with the "Dickensian" strictness of the institution after students were accused of breaching uniform rules by wearing cheaper supermarket blazers.

In another alleged incident, a child was threatened with expulsion for eating an apple on a tennis court.
