Drummers break world record

The world record for the largest number of people drumming the same beat has been broken by 582 people in Birmingham.

Musicians, children and celebrities broke the record at the Stick It To MS event at the city's National Indoor Arena before 4pm yesterday, Sky News reports.

Organiser Craig Clover said: "It's been absolutely fantastic. Everyone has really enjoyed themselves - it was a really good atmosphere.

"We did a simple rock groove and played for at least ten minutes. We have video evidence and certificates, which we will now send off to get verified by Guinness."

The event, which broke the previous record of 533 drummers set in the US three years ago, has so far raised £20,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
