Fire station damaged in blaze
Rathfriland fire station in County Down, Northern Ireland has been badly damaged in an overnight blaze.

Fire service area commander Don McKay told the BBC that the incident was a little embarrassing but did not mark the first time a station has been struck by fire.

McKay said: "It just goes to show that fire can attack anybody. We have measures in place to make sure that we have adequate fire cover in the area.

"So the local community need not worry - a fire appliance will arrive if they need one."

There was no-one inside the station when the fire broke out and police are currently investigating its cause.
