The 45-year-old began collecting memorabilia from the film series after viewing the first two instalments on a double bill in 1982.
He told The Times: "From the opening credits of the first film to the closing credits of Mad Max 2 my jaw was on the floor, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and I was totally hooked."
Bennett spent over £15,000 to refurbish his own version of the Inteceptor vehicle, which Mel Gibson's character drove through post-apocalyptic wastelands in The Road Warrior. He also has a blue heeler cattle dog named Dog, after Max's canine companion in the first sequel.
Bennett recently moved his wife Linda and two of his sons to the small town of Silverton, where the first two chapters were filmed. He also plans to open a Mad Max museum in his backyard.
He added: "We have taken a really big risk but I've followed my dream, so for me it's all fallen into place."
Director George Miller earlier announced that production is about to begin on the fourth film in the franchise.
