Sky News reports that the Metropolitan Police used a television report to compile images of hooligans that attended the recent West Ham and Millwall football match.
However, they accidentally included five images of actors from the film, which is about football violence in the 1980s.
Sources described the mistake as a "bad day at the office", while a Scotland Yard spokesperson said: "We wish to apologise unreservedly to those affected. We are going to be actively trying to contact those people to offer our apologies."
However, the film's production company Vertigo Films told The Sun: "We are delighted our scenes are so realistic people can't tell the difference between them and real events."
