'Dead man' wakes up before autopsy

A man who was declared dead by medics reportedly woke up as staff began a post-mortem examination on his body.

Manas Deo was struck by a vehicle near Baragadia village in Jajpur, India on December 25 and was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty in hospital, IANS reports.

A report in Oriya newspaper Sambad read: "It was a surprise for the hospital staff and family members after Manas woke up when the doctors began his autopsy."

Deo is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Cuttack and medics now say he will recover in a fortnight.
