After a successful 16 months, Tacoma-based Cascade Regional Blood Services is expanding its Pint-for-Pint Blood Drive to new parts of the city, The News Tribune reports.
Cascade's director of donor resources Dan Schmitt said: "It's just a fun thing to do."
Community relations specialist Jamie Pernaa, who links the centre with pubs and eateries, agreed: "It's a fun way for us to get more donors, and it's good for the restaurants as well."
Under the terms of the promotion, donors aged 21 or over are given a coupon for a free pint of beer, but must wait a minimum of four to six hours after giving blood before cashing in at a participating venue.
Co-owner of the Swiss pub Jack McQuade said: "It was just a great opportunity for our customers and the people who work around here to make it real easy to give blood."
