Baseball mascot accused of wiener attack

Major League Baseball team the Kansas City Royals are being sued by a fan who claims that mascot Slugger the Lion poked his eye out with a steaming hot wiener.
According to TMZ, John Coomer claims he was relaxing at a game on September 8, 2009, when Slugger "climbed atop the third base dugout and started shooting hotdogs into the stands from an air gun."
The mascot later abandoned the gun and started throwing the hotdogs by hand, which is when, documents claim, "Slugger lost control of his throw or was reckless with his throw, and threw the hotdog directly into the plaintiff".
The food stuff allegedly hit him in the left eye causing a detached retina and leaving him with cataracts.
Coomer is now suing the Royals for $25,000 (£16,000) under the allegation that it "failed to adequately train its agents... in the proper method in which to throw hotdogs into the stands at Kauffman Stadium".
