American Apparel apologised to customers for the "scary" experience after disorder broke out at the Brick Lane event.
Scotland Yard confirmed that ten police officers sustained minor injuries at the sale, which had been advertised on Facebook. According to The Daily Telegraph, three people were arrested for public order offences.
Organisers said sorry on their Facebook site, adding that the response to the sale was "overwhelming and humbling". The statement read: "Dangerous behaviour in the queue prompted the police to close the event down until they could ensure security for everyone involved.
"We know that today was a disappointment and scary for many of you. For that, we are deeply sorry."
They added that extra security has been arranged to allow the sale to take place this weekend and on Monday.
