Southern China's Wu Lingyuan beauty spot was believed to have been the inspiration for James Cameron's planet of Pandora in the 3D science-fiction movie.
Events organisers have consequently hosted themed weddings in the area to attract fans of the film, Metro reports.
However, one bride named Xiao Tsao, who was married in a joint service with four other couples, said: "The Navi were a couple of forestry workers dressed up in long underwear dyed blue, wearing some very unconvincing masks. It was really pathetic."
A forestry authority spokesman countered: "We are not professional special effects experts but we do our best. What we are really highlighting is the beauty of our landscape."
