Kenzie Denton, 14, won the 2011 Chevy Camaro when her ticket was drawn out in a raffle. The better a student's grades and attendance were, the more tickets they earned for the raffle.
Denton, who cannot legally drive yet, told website NBCDFW: "It's just coming out as crying and happiness.
"I will probably let my parents drive it until they're ready, and then I'll take it back."
In addition, 24 runners-up of the draw won a touch-screen tablet.
The raffle is an initiative to encourage students to work harder. Linda Parker, principal of another school which is taking part in the programme, commented: "Secondary students are notorious, sometimes, for becoming lax in their grades and attendance.
"This is a motivation tool for them to work on their grades.
"We do a tally. [Then] they receive their tickets, put their names on them, put them in the hopper, and cross their fingers and hope they win."
