Mountain lion discovered in man's garage

A Californian man has discovered a mountain lion living in his garage.

Jesse Taylor from Hesperia, Southern California, heard strange noises coming from his garage and went to investigate, assuming that it would simply be a raccoon or a fox.

However, he quickly discovered that an 18-month-old lion had taken up residence and had been hiding there for several days.

"I pulled a bucket down off the top shelf and I saw a big paw print," Taylor explained to the Victorville Daily Press. "Then I knew that it wasn't a raccoon problem."

Taylor quickly locked the garage and called both the police and animal control, who later removed the animal and released it back into the San Bernadino Forest.

"The lion wasn't trapped. It went into the garage on his own free will," a police representative told Yahoo! News. "When the homeowner discovered it, he immediately closed the door back up and called us."

Residents in the area had previously reported seeing a large mountain lion roaming the neighbourhood in the months leading up to the discovery.
