A shark has been caught on camera leaping over a surfer.
The spinner shark, 1.2 metres long, was seen in the air at the New Smyrna Beach in Florida.
However, this particular species of shark is said to be mostly harmless to humans if unprovoked. With their narrow teeth, they usually feed on small and bony fish instead, such as sardines, herring and tunas, but can also prey on squid and octopus.
By contrast, the great white shark can grow to more than five metres in length and have been known to consume dolphins, whales and other sharks.
Explaining the footage of the spinner shark, the Florida Museum of Natural History said: "They swim swiftly up in a vertical position to swallow their prey while they spin. Often, their momentum causes them to exit the water."
