Trucker saved from multi-storey car park plunge

A garbage truck driver has been saved from a mighty plunge after crashing his vehicle through the wall of a multi-storey car park.

Robert Legall's 16-ton truck was spotted dangling several levels above the streets of New York earlier this week.

He claimed to have lost control of the vehicle in the city district of Queens, Sky News reports.

New York firefighters immediately worked to rescue Legall, who had been trapped in the truck's cabin and suffered a few minor injuries.

Emergency workers also tried to pull the truck back into the car park, but Legall was only freed when a cherry picker was used to break the driver side window.
