Aline Westphal, also known as 'The Devil's Niece', performed to the Foo Fighters' single 'Pretender' to take the top prize at the event in Finland.
Thousands gathered at the Oulu marketplace to watch the entrants, who were judged on enthusiasm rather than technical ability.
All the finalists had to perform twice - once to Rage Against the Machine's track 'Without A Face' and another to a song of their choice.
Speaking before the show, runner-up Justin 'Nordic Thunder' Howard told Metro: "My strength is that I have absolutely no shame. I'm not concerned with looking like a fool and I'm planning on looking like a fool tonight."
Veronica 'Like Ever Gin' Mullerova took third place, making it the first time a woman had even taken a medal at the Air Guitar World Championships since 2004, when American Miri 'Sonyk-Rok' Park won silver.
