'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling chosen as the 'perfect teacher'

JK Rowling has topped a poll to uncover who children think would make the perfect teacher.

The Harry Potter author was the top choice among children, in a survey commissioned by the Times Educational Supplement, while Cheryl Cole and Kate Middleton also scored highly.

According to PA, children also selected fictional wizard Albus Dumbledore as their preferred male teacher, just ahead of Yoda from Star Wars.

Parents, on the other hand, selected former Countdown co-host Carol Vorderman and Prime Suspect star Helen Mirren as their top female candidates.

Among the preferred male teachers chosen by adults were Q.I. host Stephen Fry and nature television presenter David Attenborough.
