On October 4, two people rang police to deal with 22 packages of cocaine discovered on a Fort Pierce beach, reports WPTV.
Lora Howard, one of the residents along the beach, was made aware of the scene when police knocked on her door to borrow a hose and take a garbage bag to put the coke in.
"They started to get a crowd everywhere, so they wanted to conceal it," she recalled.
One officer commented: "58 pounds is a lot of cocaine, then you cut that and it becomes crack cocaine - cocaine you snort. We figured it out to be almost $2.2m (£1.4m) of street value cocaine."
Police are currently investigating where the packages came from.
