The Austrian museum, located in Schwarzenegger's home town of Thal, opened earlier this year and features memorabilia from both his political and acting career.
Among the exhibits on show are Schwarzenegger's first barbell, several life-size Terminator models and a bronze statue commissioned by the actor himself.
Schwarzenegger told reporters that he hoped that the museum would inspire people to work hard to achieve their goals.
"Personal success is the result of determination, hard work and stubbornness," Schwarzenegger told BBC News. "For me, this is not only a museum, it is also a symbol of will. Everyone has a chance."
While attending the event, Schwarzenegger was accompanied by his 18-year-old son Patrick.
