A squirrel has caused electricity to be cut off for 15,000 people.

The outage in Greenwich, Connecticut lasted a few hours before power was restored.

The power cut occurred during a morning when the squirrel damaged equipment at a Connecticut Light & Power substation, reports Metro.

Traffic lights were also affected, which forced local police to help with directing rush hour traffic.

A spokesman for Connecticut Light & Power revealed that the squirrel had died instantly after receiving tens of thousands of volts.
