Harold Camping earlier this year predicted that a powerful earthquake would take all the "righteous" spirits off earth on May 21. However, the day passed without notable incident.
He later amended his prediction, calling May 21 an "invisible Judgment Day" and saying that the Rapture would really arrive on October 21.
Camping added: "At that time, the whole world will be destroyed. God has now opened our eyes to the fact that May 21 was a spiritual coming, whereas we had thought it was a physical coming.
"It won't be spiritual on October 21. The world is going to be destroyed altogether, but it will be very quick."
This will be the American's fourth prediction after he previously stated that the Rapture would happen on May 21, 1988 and September 6, 1994.
Camping admitted: "I have never, never told anybody that I am infallible."
