A Las Vegas man with a 45kg scrotum has been told that he will need to raise $1m (£626,000) for corrective surgery.

Wesley Warren Jr, who has suffered from the medical condition scrotal elephantiasis since 2008, appeared on shock jock Howard Stern's radio and TV show in a desperate bid for help.

"I want to have real friends and a relationship with a woman," he told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "But I'm not suicidal. I'm too strong for that.

"I don't like being a freak - who would? But I figured that the Stern show is listened to by millions of people and they might want to help me. I hope some millionaire or billionaire will want to help me."

Warren Jr's condition is usually caused by a mosquito-spread parasitic infection and is rare outside Africa and Asia.

However, the 47-year-old believes that the abnormality was caused by him awkwardly twisting in bed, after which his scrotum grew to "the size of a soccer ball" and continued to inflame.
