Prince Charles has claimed that Vlad the Impaler is one of his ancestors.
The heir to the British throne was speaking for an upcoming television documentary about the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Prince Charles said: "The genealogy shows I am descended from Vlad the Impaler, so I do have a bit of a stake in the country."
Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, is thought to have been the inspiration for Bram Stoker's fictional vampire character Count Dracula in 1897.
The 15th century nobleman gained a reputation for torturing and executing people, often with impalement.
The documentary Wild Carpathia will air in the UK on the Travel Network.
