Peterborough footballer names son 'Trendy'

A footballer has named his son 'Trendy'.

Peterborough player Gabriel Zakuani, whose girlfriend Shanice Petrie works in fashion, chose to name their newborn son Trendy-Bleu Gabriel Zakuani, the Evening Telegraph reports.

"Everyone has been giving me banter about it," Zakuani said.

"When the gaffer Darren Ferguson found out my son had been born he asked me what the name was.

"He wouldn't believe me when I said he is called Trendy. He kept asking me what it really is."

He added: "Since he was born people have been asking if his name is because of 'trending topics' on Twitter. People know I use the site and maybe it was in the back of my mind.

"But the official reason was his mum is into fashion and she wanted something to reflect that. But it was me who came up with Trendy."

Zakuani already has two daughters named Destiny and Heaven and a stepson called Ajae.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that New Zealand's name registrar had banned over 100 names over a two-year period, including 'Lucifer', 'Messiah' and various punctuation marks.

The parents who named their offspring Adolf Hitler and Aryan Nation had all three of their children taken away from them by the authorities last month.
